Illogical Adult World

Нелогічний Світ Дорослих

Following three teens facing friendship, self-image and the confusing logic of adults, the series uses visual poetry and imagination to explore what growing up really feels like.

Growing up in a small Eastern European town where nothing seems extraordinary until you start looking closer. Town Kabannya is a place of childhood memories and everyday life, with concrete high rises, quiet houses and empty courtyards. For adults it is routine, but for kids it becomes a whole universe filled with hidden routes, imagined worlds and first attempts to understand who they are. At the center are three teenagers, each facing their own quiet struggles. Oleksa notices everything and tries to make sense of social rules that never quite explain themselves. Jordan is a rule breaker who is always looking for excitement, using his energy and jokes to avoid facing his fears. Casey is a strong and capable girl who can bring chaos under control, but she starts to notice how harsh and limiting beauty standards for girls can be. Together they move through that fragile moment between childhood and adulthood, trying to understand themselves and a world that often feels confusing.

Director’s statement
The Illogical Adult World is a story that was born out of my personal need: to create a series for Ukrainian teenagers that speaks to them in their language. And I see this not just as a niche but as a place that someone should fill. And I feel the need to do it. This is a series about how simple everyday adventures give rise to small discoveries and quiet moral conclusions that remain with us for a long time. Together, they create a dynamic in which every teenager can see their own fears, strengths, and search for meaning. Illogical Adult World is about everyday life and the magic hidden within it! It is about growing up, which never really ends. It is about a world that seems illogical but becomes clearer when you are not alone. It is about how small adventures make up a great inner journey.
I want to implement this project because I believe it can give children and teenagers a sense of support, understanding, and belonging – something that even adults lack.
